Texas and Local History Collection
- The Texas and Local History Department offers reference service and research materials in every subject relating to Houston and Texas. It is a closed-stack, non-circulating collection.
HOURS:
Monday - Saturday 9:00am to 6:00pm
RULES OF THE ROOM:
* Users must store all bags and purses in lockers provided
* Users may not bring in food or water
* Users must register only if they wish to view an archival collection
EQUIPMENT:
* Wireless access available.
* Three computers with internet access.
* One computer with HPL catalog and databases only.
* Four microform reader/printers
- 1 hour limit (when others are waiting)
- 3 are coin operated
- 1 is "Read Only"
* Two copy machines
* One "Add Value" machine
BOOKS:
* HPL Catalog limit location to "Central Texas Room"
* If patron requests a book from any of the following locations:...

- Central Reynolds JUV Ref
- Central Meldrum Rm J Ref
...ask for specifics:
Do they need to see that particular book or do they just need that title?
- If they only need that title, check to see if HPL owns a circulating copy.
- If they really need to see that book, they need to make an appointment with TXR staff.

* Magazines of both general and scholarly interest date from the 1800's to the present
* Newsletters represent a broad range of local and state organizations.
